IDPS High-Level Luncheon

IDPS hosted a high-level luncheon which convened senior level representatives from the IDPS constituency, as well as senior level representatives among Member States, key development partners, civil society, and academia.

IDPS Co-Chairs H.E. Minister Kai-Kai and Hon. Minister Sajjan along with Achim Steiner (UNDP Administrator), H.E. Najla Mohammed El Mangoush (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Libya), H.E. Mohammed Shahriar Alam (Honourable State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh and Peacebuilding Commission Chair Representative), Asako Okai (Assistant Secretary General, Director of UNDP Crisis Bureau), Elizabeth Spehar (Assistant Secretary General, Peacebuilding Support), Peter Van Sluijs (Senior Strategist, Cordaid and Coordinator CSPPS), provided addresses at the event. Their remarks highlighted the opportunities for IDPS to contribute its unique comparative advantage as a political dialogue to bring together critical actors to reflect on what is needed to achieve sustainable peace, the risks of disinvestments by the international community in prevention, inclusive institution-building and development-based approaches to sustainable peace, and opportunities for IDPS to collaborate with the UN peacebuilding architecture and other multilateral partners.

The event provided an important opportunity to advocate the relevance of the peacebuilding and statebuilding agenda in the context of the new peace and security landscape.
