Arab-DAC Dialogue

On 18 January 2016, the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the Arab Coordination Group met for an annual dialogue on development. The meeting, which brought together DAC members and senior-level representatives from Arab providers of development co-operation, was hosted by the OPEC Fund for International Development in Vienna. The overall theme of the meeting was “achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, and this included a session on the role of the private sector in fragile and conflict-affected states.

UN Ebola Pledging Conference

The U.N Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, convened a high-level meeting at the U.N Headquarters in New York, where the international community pledged more than $3.4 billion in additional funds to help the three West African states – Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea – in their Ebola recovery efforts. You can find more information on the conference and its outcomes here.

UNDP Engagement with the New Deal

The UNDP workshop “UNDP Engagement with the New Deal: Taking Stock and Accelerating Implementation” brought together 55 participants, including representatives from 18 UNDP Country Offices, representatives from UNDP HQ and Regional Bureaux, and representatives from the g7+, International Dialogue, Civil society and governments, to take stock of UNDP's role in supporting the implementation of the New Deal.

Ensuring Impact and Inclusivity in Fragile States

The Helsinki conference on Ensuring Impact and Inclusivity in Fragile States organised by UNDP/CSPPS/FCA/MoFA Finland brought together all New Deal constituencies: Civil Society representatives, Government representatives and representatives from UNDP Country Offices from three focus countries (Somalia, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan), as well as donor agencies, International and Finnish NGOs.
