The High-Level Political Forumn (HLPF) is the United Nations central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2019, 50 countries (9 for the second time) have volunteered to present their national voluntary reviews (VNR) to the HLPF.
Convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council, the 2019 HLPF will be held from Tuesday, 9 July, to Thursday, 18 July 2019. This includes a three-day ministerial meeting from 16-18 July. The theme will be “Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality“.
Crucially for the International Dialogue, SDG 10 (Reduce inequality within and among countires), SDG 16 (Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels) and SDG 17 (Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development) will be reviewed in 2019. Five g7+ countries will be taking part: Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Timor-Leste, and Sierra Leone. In addition to side events hosted by individual IDPS constituencies and members, the IDPS as a group plans to co-host an event on the margins of the HLPF. More details to follow.
