Somalia: an overview of poverty, vulnerability and financing

The New Deal for Engagement in Fragile States needs to be monitored and evaluated effectively to produce best practices in implementation and ensure that the needs of the most vulnerable people are being met. To do this, data is needed on both people affected by poverty and vulnerability as well as the financing available. To this end, Development Initiatives have produced a report that provides an overview of poverty, vulnerability and financing data availability and evidence in Somalia. Reports such as these can be potentially invaluable in highlighting the challenges for the New Deal implementation in fragile contexts as well as highlighting areas for further research. The International Dialogue takes a great interest in further strengthening the availability and quality of data as this can enhance development efforts in fragile contexts and from this draw lessons for the future application of the New Deal in other countries affected by conflict and fragility. Read the Development Initiatives report here.
