CSPPS 2014 Annual Report

The Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) recently released their 2014 Annual Report Amplifying the Voice of Civil Society in Policy Processes. This report offers an overview of the CSPPS activities and their outcomes. It also highlights the core contribution of CSOs and NGOs to the process of peacebuilding and statebuilding and aims to raise interest and understanding for their continued participation in the development processes in fragile and conflict-affected states.

UN Ebola Pledging Conference

The U.N Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, convened a high-level meeting at the U.N Headquarters in New York, where the international community pledged more than $3.4 billion in additional funds to help the three West African states – Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea – in their Ebola recovery efforts. You can find more information on the conference and its outcomes here.

UNDP Engagement with the New Deal

The UNDP workshop “UNDP Engagement with the New Deal: Taking Stock and Accelerating Implementation” brought together 55 participants, including representatives from 18 UNDP Country Offices, representatives from UNDP HQ and Regional Bureaux, and representatives from the g7+, International Dialogue, Civil society and governments, to take stock of UNDP's role in supporting the implementation of the New Deal.

Ensuring Impact and Inclusivity in Fragile States

The Helsinki conference on Ensuring Impact and Inclusivity in Fragile States organised by UNDP/CSPPS/FCA/MoFA Finland brought together all New Deal constituencies: Civil Society representatives, Government representatives and representatives from UNDP Country Offices from three focus countries (Somalia, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan), as well as donor agencies, International and Finnish NGOs. 9th Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains

Government and Civil Society representatives from DRC participated in the 9th Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains, which took place in May at the OECD, in Paris. Accountable management of minerals is closely linked to achieving the Peacebuilding and Statebuilding Goals. This meeting was an opportunity to learn about the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, the ICGLR Regional Certification Mechanism, and other initiatives to facilitate responsible supply chains in conflict affected areas.
