Coastal West Africa Dialogue on Prevention and Peacebuilding 2025
The International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS) convened its second Coastal West Africa Dialogue on Prevention and Peacebuilding in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on 10–11 July 2025. Bringing together 55 representatives from governments, regional organizations, financial institutions, the UN system, and civil society, the hybrid event built on the 2024 Accra Dialogue to assess emerging peace, development, and security trends and explore ways to strengthen nationally owned prevention efforts. Discussions highlighted the need for cross-border cooperation, inclusive and evidence-based approaches, and holistic strategies linking peace, security, and development. Participants emphasized IDPS’s role in fostering dialogue, promoting mutual accountability, and bridging governments with women, youth, and frontline actors to advance sustainable peacebuilding in the region.
