Launch: New Coalitions for Peace & Development – IDPS Policy Statement

On 25 September 2025, the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS) launched its 2025 policy statement “New Coalitions for Peace and Development”, presenting a renewed vision for responding to the growing challenges of conflict, fragility, and inequality worldwide. The statement calls for stronger, more inclusive partnerships between governments, civil society, and development partners, and urges increased investment in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and long-term solutions. The statement outlines seven key objectives aimed at shaping a more effective and united approach to building peace and supporting lasting development in the evolving geopolitical context:

  1. Prioritize aid for countries most affected by conflict and fragility (ODA4Fragility);
  2. Safeguard and increase investments in conflict prevention and peacebuilding (ODA4Peace);
  3. Prioritize structural transformation, preventive approaches, and long-term solutions;
  4. Ensure national leadership and inclusion of civil society and grassroots groups;
  5. Expand collaborative multistakeholder partnerships;
  6. Enhance complementarity, coherence, and coordination between peace, humanitarian, development, and security cooperation; and
  7. Elevate narratives, evidence, data, analysis, and lessons learned for policy and practice.

IDPS invites partners to engage with this unique platform to champion structural and meaningful solutions to address fragility, conflict, and violence.
